After the declaration of Bongaigaon as a newly created district, the administrative set up of the district has been thoroughly framed in the following manner.

3. Revenue Administration
4. Law and Order
General Administration: The District Administration is headed by the Deputy Commissioner. He is also responsible to act as a District Magistrate in case of Law and Order and General Administration, Revenue Collector in case of Revenue Matters, as a District Election Officer in case of conducting Election in the district and so on.The Deputy Commissioner is aided by number of officers like Additional Deputy Commissioner : The Deputy Commissioner is assisted by Additional Deputy Commissioner in matters relating to Revenue, Development ,Personnel, Magistracy,Census,Election, Relief and Rehabilitation etc.
Sub-Divisional Officer : There are three Sub-Divisions in the district viz. Bongaigaon(Sadar), Manikpur(C) and North Salmara(C).Sub-Divisonal Offices are administered by the respective Sub-Divisional Officer.
Transformation & Development: District Development is the very important key sector of District Administration.The Deputy Commisioner is responsible for all kind of development activities in the district under various programme such as MP's Local Area Fund, MLA's fund, Untied Fund, Sub-Divisional Plan Scheme Fund, Border Area Development Fund and so on.For all these works, DC assigns the ADC(D) to look after and co-ordinate various developmental activities undertaken in various sectors. All development departments in the district like Irrigation, PWD, Health, Education etc. works in co-ordination and District Development Committee(DDC) headed by DC has been in place to ensure this coordination. Under the Goverment policy of rapid upliftment of rural population, a District Rural Development Agency is functioning in the district with the DC as the Chairman and Project Director as its functional head. All schemes for Rural evelopment are implemented by this agency and P.D. (DRDA) is helped by Block Development Officers(BDOs) and Senior BDOs. of 7 development Blocks .
Revenue Administration: Apart from Development matters, Revenue Administration has key responsibility regarding Revenue matters.This involves collection and fixing of land revenue, registration, mutation and overall management in regard to land matters- private and public. Besides the Revenue Branch of the Deputy Commissioner's Office, which is looked after by the Additional Deputy Commissioner(R), there are 5(Five) Revenue Circles in the district headed by Circle Officers.
Law and Order: Maintenance of Law & Order is another highly important aspect of the district administration and the DC, also being D.M, is responsible for proper maintenance of the same. The DC is aided by the Additional District Magistrate(ADM), Sub-Divisional Magistrate(SDM) and Executive Magistrate(EM). The Circle Officer of the circles also function as Executive Magistrates and responsible for maintenance of Law & Order in their respective circle areas. The DM and other magistrate take necessary assistance from the Police Department when such necessity arises. District Police Administartion is headed by the Supperintendent of Police. The Police Deptt. has an infrastructure of 8(Eight), 15 (Fifteen) out-posts and other auxiliary establishment in the district.
